"DDR Bomber"

[part 1]

Robby is the most familiar name in the Netherlands. His name is found in many pedigrees of Dutch bred German shepherds. The main reason for this are the two successful nests he had in the Netherlands; The G-nest Haus Larwin (Gideon and Gento) and the V-nest Blitsaerd (Verwin and Vello).

Gento v Haus Larwin

Gideon v Haus Larwin

It would not be fair to ascribe the qualities of this successful nest only to the father. The mother of the nest is of just as much importance in the inheritance. Cheeta v. Haus Larwin (mother G-nest Haus Larwin) and Gilla v Blitsaerd (mother V-nest Blitsaerd) both were very well re-inheriting bitches. Also of great importance is the education, training and environment in which the pup is developing. It is however a fact that Robby had excellent off-spring with tow different bitches in the Netherlands.

Cheeta v Haus Larwin

Verwin v Blitsaerd

According to Bert Salomons (breeder v Haus Larwin) Robby was an excellent dog, very straight-backed however with little ground speed. Bert remembers after doing bitework with Robby, its owner tied Robby to the fence afterwards. Robby was deeply offended. The owner tried every trick in the book to get the dogs attention, but Robby refused to look at him. Robby was owned by an honest and well-willing amateur in dog sports, who was overwhelmed with the Dutch interest for his dog. Before this, no-one had ever heard of the kennel Glockeneck. The kennels v Haus Larwin and v Blitsaerd have ended this anonymity.

Looking into Robby’s pedigree we keep in mind the Wertmessziffern of his ancestors. Attention is drawn to the fact that both parents were given ZTP: 5547/33:
5=Medium strong
5=nobility and strength, harmonious and pleasing lines
4=good angulations
7=even tempered, calm, sensitive towards corrections
3=fair
3=fair

For the last 3 figures (Temperament, Fighting instinct, Hardness) you would expect “better” numbers, keeping in mind the enormous inheritance-power Robby had to very good and excellent working dogs. Both a brother and sister of Robby can be found in the German Inspection book with the appraisal “Vorhanden” (satisfactory) for courage and fighting spirit.

Although Robby and Pascha shared their mother, their father-line is very different. Robby comes from the typical DDR dog Ingo v Rudingen (also grandfather of Lord v Gleisdreieck). Pascha is the grandson of the 100% “Wessie” Bernd v Lierberg.

The v-nest Blitsaerd provided for a wide spread of Robby in Dutch and Belgium pedigrees, mainly through Verwin (and Vello: ind. Champion 88/89/91). As most famous, Verwin son of Robby and grandson of Robby, Orry v Haus Antverpa, being a multiple world champion and a legend on its own.

Robby’s name also went on through Orry’s brother Olko. In the Netherlands specially through off-spring of Gento Haus Larwin (Rakker KNPV cert., Nico Akbar vice weltsieger WUSV). Another interesting fact is that Robby is the father of the bitch Kwinta v Hamerslag. She bred, among others, the E-nest v Meerblick with top-champion dogs. Without bringing down others, you can find an extensive overview of the breed survey direct off-spring and other survey-bredd off-spring of which Robby was the great-grandfather at the end of this page.
