Xhantippe van Blommerschot, Guarding. Owner: Wim de Wit
In this exercise it is tested whether or not the dog will attack a person who surrenders in time.
Parts:
1) Waiting and obeying the command
2) Manner of pursuit
3) Not biting
4) Guarding
5) Manner of transport
From the position, pointed out by the sampler, the helper makes sure he can be seen by dog and handler. He puts up his stick and then escapes after being given notification. As soon as the dog is 25 metres away of the starting point, the helper escapes sideways out of sight of the handler and the dog. After the dog has come up another 40 metres, the helper turns around after a sign of the commission of samplers, drops the stick immediately and stands – facing the dog - still. The dog is not allowed to attack the helper but should guard the helper with full attention. After sending the dog, the handler proceeds to the leader of the commission of samplers. Once the feigned attack has succeeded, the transport is started when the handler reaches the dog. The handler takes the dog next to him, at about 2 metres distance behind the helper. The dog must follow the handler correct during transport and should stay at about 2 metres distance of the helper. Directly after a sign of the sampler, the handler must stop the transport.
With this we have reached the end of the KNPV program, Police Dog 1.
With this article I hope to have given the right impression of the differences and similarities in the IPO and KNPV program. I am grateful towards anyone who has supplied me with pictures, whether I have used them or not.
Special thanks to Topaaz publishers for pictures Diego v. Marija's Hoeve:

The publication of this article however does not mean this subject is finished, there will definitely be updates regarding pictures and textual additions. I invite anyone who thinks has interesting or valuable material to send this to me. My greatest desire is to publish pictures of former DDR inspections.
