DEFENCE TRAINING [4]

Diego v Marija’s Hoeve, Preparing biteworker for back transport Owner: Richard Venzelaar

Akki von der Schuetzenhoehe, Back transport Owner: Jacques Suurmond
In relation to the previous training comes the back transport, the handler tells the biteworker to walk up in front and he follows him with the dog on a distance of approx. 5 steps.

Diego v Marija’s Hoeve, Assault in back transport Owner: Richard Venzelaar
During the back transport the biteworker attempts an assault on the dog in which he uses the stick as a defence, without hitting the dog. The dog must bite directly and full of energy, without any hesitation. On command of the sampler the biteworker stops the assault and the dog must let go of the biteworker after the command LET GO, and guard him closely and attentive. On sign of the sampler the handler goes up to biteworker and dog, disarms the biteworker, takes the dog besides his feet and prepares for side transport.

Diego v Marija’s Hoeve, Optimal guarding at side transport Owner: Richard Venzelaar
What follows is a side transport to the sampler, the handler gives the stick to the sampler and the biteworker exits the training field.
Now we change to the KNPV program in order to see what is planned after the searching exercises.
TRANSPORT OF A PRISONER

Mack van het Grootwezenland, Transport
www.grootwezenland.com
The exercise is divided in:
1. The manner of transportation
2. Not biting during the transport
3. Retrieving a dropped metal subject
The helper takes the subject under his arm on the side were the dog is at the beginning of the exercise. The handler takes the helper with ONE hand by the shoulder on the side he is walking, and walks up after a sign of the sampler. On the way, after approx. 20 metres, the helper secretly drops the object but keeps on walking. The dog has to pick up the dropped subject directly, without any command or sign of the handler, and give the object to the handler who meanwhile is standing opposite of the stopped helper.

After this the transport is proceeded over a distance of approx. 20 metres. After this, the same distance is done were the helper imitates a drunk suspect by stumbling and roving about. After this another 10 metres is walked in a normal tread.
